Abstract: While it has been determined that regular smoking compared to nonsmoking during adolescence raises the risk for adult smoking by a factor of 16 (Chassin et al., 1990) and frequent smoking is associated with withdrawal symptoms (CDC 2022, Blaha, 2022), the direct relationship between frequency of smoking and number of withdrawal symptoms a smoker experiences remains unclear. My research evaluates the relationship between frequency of smoking and the number of withdrawal symptoms a smoker will experience post cessation and whether this relationship differs based on gender (male or female).
